Bible verse: Psalm 96:12 Then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy before the Lord.
Prayer: God, our Creator, who created our world and all that is therein and saw that it was good. We rejoice in your gift of trees which provide so bountifully. Trees are beautiful to look at and provide shade for ourselves and animals. Their fruits are used for food, and leaves and bark for medicines. Important Biblical trees are olives whose leaf the dove brought to Noah in the Ark, and which are long lived and valuable for their oil; cedars (of Lebanon) which Solomon used to build the temple; and date palms with nourishing and sustaining fruit whose leaves were waved and strewn before Jesus on entering Jerusalem for the Iast time . We give thanks for their many and varied gifts.
